About The Dalian Players
We are The Dalian Players, where the magic of theatre comes to life. Our theatre group is a place where creativity, talent, and passion converge to create unforgettable performances. We provide a platform for individuals to explore their acting skills, learn about stagecraft, and be part of spectacular productions.

Founded in 1952 by David and Lilian Richards, we have been putting on performances of every kind at our Woolston base from gripping thrillers to comedic pantomimes.
Join us to delve into the world of theatre, meet like-minded individuals, and be part of an inspiring community. Whether you're an aspiring actor, a seasoned performer, or simply someone who appreciates the art of drama, there's a place for you at The Dalian Players.

If that sounds good to you then fill out this form and lets hit the stage!
Parking
Woolston Methodist Church has very limited parking at the front of the building, however, the surrounding streets all offer free parking with no restricts.
We do ask that you respect our neighbours and avoid parking across driveways and follow any relevant road markings.
-
Do I need previous experience performing? Not at all! We welcome anyone from all walks of life to take part. the only requirement is enthusiasm.
-
Who can join?We welcome all adults and young people from the age of 10 and upwards.
-
Are there other roles besides acting? There certainly are. A performance is made possible with several different roles that are all key to putting on a great show, they include sound and lighting, prop making and design, costume making and design, hair and makeup, stage hands, front of house staff, as well as writers, directors, and producers.
-
When and where are rehearsals and performances?Depending on the scale of the production, rehearsals can take place between 1 and 3 times a week, generally on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. These rehearsals and any performances are held at Woolston Methodist Church.
-
Do we get paid for doing performances? We are a non-profit organisation and as such, all of the money made from tickets and merchandise sales goes straight into the running of the group, paying for rent, services, and most importantly, funding the next show!
-
What if I don't like it?That's perfectly alright, it might not be everyone's cup of tea. If it turns out you don't catch the acting bug like the rest of us then there is no obligation to carry on, though we'll be sad to see you go!
-
How do I pronounce Dalian? Its pronounce Da (as in David) and Lian (as in Lillian).
